Definition of Adjective
The words that describe a noun or pronoun by providing more information about its size, shape, color, quantity, quality, or other attributes are called Adjectives.
Examples: good, sweet, huge, round, some, etc.
Adjectives can have different degrees to show the level of comparison between two or more things. There are three degrees of adjectives.

1. Positive Degree of Adjective:
The positive degree is the basic degree of the adjective. It is used without any comparison. to describe a single thing or make a basic statement about its quality.
Examples of Positive Degree of Adjective:
- This diamond is precious. (Value)
- I have a red car. (Color)
- She just bought a new phone. (Age)
- Round pizzas are served in square boxes. (Shape)
- I met some friends today. (Quantity)
- This food is delicious. (Quality)
1. Positive Degree of Adjective in Hindi/Urdu:
Positive degree adjective ki bunyadi degree kehlati hai. Ye bina kisi tulna ke istemaal hoti hai kisi cheez ya insan ki khasiat batane ke liye.Examples of Positive Degree of Adjective:
- Ye heera anmol hai. (Daam)
- Mere pas laal gari hai. (Rang)
- Us ne ek naya phone khareeda. (Umar)
- Gol pizza chokor dabbon me pesh kiye jate hen. (Shakal)
- Main aj kuch doston se mila. (Tadaad)
- Ye khana mazedaar hai. (Khasiyat)
2. Comparative Degree of Adjective:
This is used when you want to compare two things or people. To form the comparative degree of most adjectives, you can add "-er" to the end of the adjective (for shorter adjectives) or use "more" before the adjective (for longer adjectives).
Examples of Comparative Degree of Adjective:
- She is taller than me.
- This food is tastier than the restaurant's food.
- Your bag is heavier than mine.
- You are more beautiful than her.
- Try to write more cleanly than you wrote yesterday.
- He is looking fresher than before.
2. Comparative Degree of Adjective:
Examples of Comparative Degree of Adjective in Hindi/Urdu:
- Wo mujhse ziada lambi hai.
- Ye khana hotel ke khane se ziada mazedar hai.
- Tumhara bág mere bag se ziada bhari hai.
- Tum us se ziada khoobsurat ho.
- Us se ziada saaf likhne ki kóshish karo jesa tum ne kal likha tha.
- Wo pehle se ziada taaza dam lag raha hái.
3. Superlative Degree of Adjective:
This is used when you want to compare one thing or person to a group of three or more. To form the superlative degree of most adjectives, you can add "-est" to the end of the adjective (for shorter adjectives) or use "most" before the adjective (for longer adjectives). Whenever we use superlative degree we use "the" before that adjective.
Examples of Comparative Degree of Adjective:
- He is the richest man in the country.
- She is the strongest among all competitors.
- If I win today, I will be the happiest man on the earth.
- Do not fight with him he is the most powerful man.
- You are the most useless person in my company.'
- She is the most intelligent student in the class.
3. Superlative Degree of Adjective in Hindi/Urdu:
Examples of Comparative Degree of Adjective in Hindi/Urdu:
- Wo mulk ka ameer tareen aadmi hai.
- Wo apne hareefon me sab se ziada mazboot hai.
- Agar me aj jeet gaya to me is dunya ka sab se khush insan honga.
- Us se mat laro wo sab se taqatwar insan hai.
- Tum meri company mein sab se bekaar shakhs ho.
- Wo class ki sab se zaheen student hai.
Remember that there are some irregular adjectives that don't follow these rules.
For example:
- Good (positive) → Better (comparative) → Best (superlative)
- Bad (positive) → Worse (comparative) → Worst (superlative)
